Press ReleaseVistaDB receives great reviews!Good results reported as .NET developers put VistaDB 2.0 (Beta 2) to the test converting SQL Server and Access databases to VistaDB. LA JOLLA, Calif. April 10th, 2004 Two weeks after release, Vista Software today announced that positive feedback on VistaDB 2.0 (Beta 2) is growing. "This is the second public release of VistaDB 2.0 and the response from our growing user base is very positive.", stated Anthony Carrabino, President and CEO of Vista Software. "This has been one of our most successful software releases ever." "I am very excited about VistaDB. I successfully converted my database from SQL Server to VistaDB on the first try. This is refreshing for new software! Overall VistaDB is looking really good." , stated Greg Larden, a new VistaDB user. Carrabino went on to say that this release has some minor issues but that overall, Beta 2 is highly usable today. The company is working on the last scheduled beta release before gearing up for official release in late May early June. According to Carrabino, the upcoming Beta 3 release scheduled for late April will include the final feature set that includes a new DDA architecture and SQL DDL language enhancements for managing meta data via SQL. VistaDB is positioned as a small to mid-sized database alternative to the MSDE, which is 70MB in size and to the Jet engine, which has problems with file bloat and locking in multi-user environments. VistaDB is priced at $329 per developer license and currently, the company is offering a limited time $200 discount on VistaDB while it is in beta. About VistaDBVistaDB 2.0 is a self-contained database engine that is designed specifically for .NET to provide high-performance data access with minimal overhead. VistaDB is 1MB in size and it supports both SQL-92 and Direct Data Access objects for managing data. VistaDB includes a native .NET Data Provider that fully supports ADO.NET and all native .NET data bound controls.
