New VistaDB Partner - CyberSavvy

written by Jason Short on Friday, November 14 2008

I think many of you have already seen the other blog post about CyberSavvy choosing to use VistaDB as the default desktop database for DataPlace.

As real world as it gets

We were quite happy with that announcement because we feel that CyberSavvy is a good real world example of a complex system that VistaDB filled the unique need for their application.  We have been working with them since the beginning of this year as a normal VistaDB customer.  We have been impressed by their timely and accurate bug reports and willingness to discuss their implementation problems with us as they wrote code.

DataPlace is a huge service that does so many things I cannot possibly explain them all in a single blog post - so I am not even going to try.  What we are going to do is allow Peter and Dan from CyberSavvy to post blog entries here directly as a VistaDB Partner.

Partner Status

CyberSavvy and VistaDB will be working together more closely over the coming months to help fill some specific needs on their side that improve the VistaDB engine for everyone.  The rough spots that DataPlace hits in VistaDB I am sure others hit as well, but here we have a great product where we can make an immediate impact on a need we can demonstrate.

Want more information?  Visit the CyberSavvy site for more information about DataPlace.  Be sure to watch their videos section for great information (and demos using VistaDB as well).  And if you decide you want to use DataPlace their will even give you a discount for being a VistaDB customer.

Super High Level Summary

I wanted to post a quick high level summary, but it ended up being several pages long (yes, their product does that much).  So I will instead give the super high level summary...

DataPlace makes it possible to deploy an application and sync it remotely across multiple systems or locations.  They do this using VistaDB on the desktop and Microsoft SQL Server on their high availability servers (with an uptime SLA).  The amount of transparency you have with their service is amazing.  You can still see and edit the VistaDB databases, and even include them in remote sync.  Want to see how they did their TSQL Procs?  They are all there for you to examine.  Always have problems tracking schema changes?  DataPlace manages all that for you - really!  It is an amazing application for remote sync and schema tracking beyond what my explanation can possibly due justice.

Not just for small projects

CyberSavvy has a great introduction pricing to help you get your product off the ground, but don't think they are just for small companies.  They build solutions using their own platform for some very large entities here in the US.  If you have a custom development project they would love to talk to you about it as well.  Visit their site and give them a ring, I think you will find they are a great small company that is very willing to work with you on finding the right solution for your data management needs.
