Visual Studio 2008 Launch website and party information

written by Jason Short on Wednesday, January 16 2008

I mentioned the Visual Studio 2008 launch event in one of the other blog posts and got an email from someone today for the site.  Here is the main website (full of silverlight content as well):

www.heroeshappenhere.com

The website has some quick information on SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008 and Dot Net 3.5.  It also includes some case studies from launch event partners (warning – often including camping marketroid type speak in buzzwords).

Visit the launch event

The launch events are staggered all over the world.  Check the schedule for when one is near you and signup to attend.  If you have never been to one you really owe it to yourself to go.  You get a trial version of the system on DVD, and usually a T-Shirt and books, training, classes, etc.  Everyone that I have attended has been well worth the day to attend the classes and talk to other developers.  I almost always learn something new that I didn’t know before I went (and I have usually already been using the product before the launch event).

Cool stuff

Be sure to visit the Cool Stuff tab – has lots of video on the launch parties and what you can expect.  Of course Microsoft is promising this one will be over the top from all other launches.

Community Launch Site

There is also a site dedicated to community launch events, and virtual train the trainers information.  Visit this if you are a dot net usergroup, or someone who wants to throw your own launch party in your community, but hurry you only have a few more days to sign up for it.
