EntitySpaces adds support for VistaDB 3.0

Nov. 9th, 2006

EntitySpaces, a VistaDB industry partner, has announced plans to release a 1.5.2 update of their popular EntitySpaces persistence layer and business objects library for Microsoft .NET that will include new support for VistaDB 3.0.

According to Mike Griffin, President of EntitySpaces, LLC and original architect of the EntitySpaces .NET architecture, "One of the main driving factors for this release is VistaDB 3.0, we plan to fully support VistaDB 3.0 before it's official release. It is our hope that upon the next release of the VistaDB 3.0 CTP there will be no issues preventing us from releasing the EntitySpaces DataProvider for VistaDB, indeed all of the coding is done for it already. We know the VistaDB team is working hard on their next CTP."

Mike went on to say, "Also, VistaDB runs natively under the Compact Framework and tonight we successfully compiled EntitySpaces under the Compact Framework as well. This means any device VistaDB runs on EntitySpaces will also. EntitySpaces should also now run under Mono but we have not tested that yet." Note: VistaDB 3.0 has been successfully tested internally to run on Mono as well.

Other features of their upcoming EntitySpaces 1.5.2 release include full compatible with the Compact Framework, which involves allowing EntitySpaces to run in configless mode, and this update will introduce additional support for their DotNetNuke integration including the DNN Object Qualifier and the ability to pull the the connection string directly from the DNN config file are all in the works. Additionally, the update will contain other minor fixes to address issues that have been reported.

The 1.5.2 release of EntitySpaces is scheduled to ship near the end of November or early December.
