Zoogmo is an early stage startup company that is developing software that enables P2P data backup. Using Zoogmo, users can build their own backup network consisting of their own or their friends’ computers. Zoogmo then automatically backs up all of their data over the internet, using a combination of SSL, MD5, Triple-DES and AES 256 encryption to make sure that only they have access to their files. Zoogmo makes unlimited and free backup a reality. We recently launched a beta version of our application and are actively growing our user base. VistaDB has proven to be a great find for us. We were struggling with the slow speed and lack of manageability of our previous XML based data base and were terribly frustrated, even the smallest bug in our software could cause us to lose the whole database. Following extensive research we learned about VistaDB. Initially it took some time for us to be convinced that we really could get all that VistaDB were promising for such a low price. We had numerous exchanges with Jason Short and the team before making the decision to go with VistaDB. I am happy to report that we have not regretted that decision at all.

The critical data step in our application involves scanning a hard drive for the files that are commonly backed up and inserting the metadata about each file into a database. With our previous database this process worked reasonably well with a limited number of files, however as soon as we scaled up the performance became unacceptable and the tools for analyzing the output data were exceptionally limited. VistaDB not only answers all these issues, it also enables us to work in a fully multi-threaded environment and much more.

During the development process we found the VistaDB team to be incredibly responsive answering our questions in our time frame with what appeared to be 24 hours a day support. As we scale our operation we look forward to integrating VistaDB even further to our application by using the advanced CLR features and believe that VistaDB will play a critical role in our continued development.
