VistaDB is a fully compliant ADO.NET 2 provider factory.  This means any application that knows how to take advantage of Dot Net Provider Factories can use VistaDB.  Provider Factories are how you write database agnostic code in .NET. 

Some applications (like Crystal Reports) also accept strongly typed datasets from your code.  You can generate the strongly typed dataset in Visual Studio and then reference it from the application.

Gibraltar is an end to end solution for logging, managing and reporting on your application.  What you log is entirely up to your application.  The product includes the ability to add trace listeners, log4net, and custom metric recording through custom code.  

They were also nice enough to write a blog about how VistaDB helped solve their business needs and do things they didn't think they could do without a SQL server.

We also wrote a blog about Gibraltar for logging customer experiences.  This was during their beta cycle.  They have since released and improved the product even more.  We continue to use the product for support purposes and have implemented our Customer Experience Improvement Program using Gibraltar.

Graffiti CMS

Creating and maintaining a site has never been easier. Graffiti CMS allows you to quickly publish and maintain dynamic content Web sites with little or no knowledge of Web programming.

It appears as though Telligent has open sourced the Graffiti CMS to allow the community to evolve the product, but they didn't include any of the code that could access VistaDB.  This is too bad, as many developers would have liked to have had that choice.  We support the open source version of Graffiti, and fully encourage others to pick up and continue the product.  Contact us if you need licenses to support the open source Graffiti work.
